The School of Architecture and Fine Art at Dalian University of Technology is proud to host the 1st International Symposium on Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Governance. The event will take place in Dalian from November 1 to 3, 2024. We extend a warm invitation to participants from government, academia, international organizations, civil society, the private sector, and the media to join us at the symposium.
Climate change is a serious challenge facing the world in the twenty-first century, with cities, as centers of human activity, being both primary recipients of climate impacts and key players in the response. The interaction between global urbanization processes and climate change has heightened urban climate risks. Thus, reducing carbon emissions, enhancing urban resilience, and ensuring sustainable urban development through effective urban climate governance policies and optimized spatial planning are urgent issues that need to be addressed. Disciplines such as architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, public administration, geography, and remote sensing play crucial roles. The China 14th Five-Year Plan emphasizes the need to "continuously improve environmental quality and actively respond to climate change," highlighting a new direction for designing resilient cities to cope with climate and environmental changes.
In this context, the School of Architecture and Art at Dalian University of Technology (DUT) is organizing the 1st International Symposium on Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Governance from November 1 to 3, 2024. This symposium aims to bring together experts and scholars from related fields to discuss how to develop scientific responses to climate change, thereby enhancing urban resilience. The event will focus on formulating governance, planning, and design strategies to improve the climate resilience of cities. Matters related to the meeting are notified below:
